We will carpool from Montpelier and stay at the Moose Brook Motel in Gorham on Friday night or people can meet us at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Moose Brook Motel. The Mahoosuc Notch is called the longest mile on the AT because it is an exciting and challenging rock scramble, which takes most hikers about two hours. The Notch Trail from Success Pond Road to the Mahoosuc Notch is easy. The hike out of the Notch up the Mahoosuc Arm is steep. We will plan to hike down to Speck Pond, and then ascend the Speck Pond Trail and back to Success Pond Road. This hike is difficult. Be prepared with enough food and water for 8 to 10 hours of hiking. Phyllis E.
